Long time no see! Can't believe it's already been half a year since my last post, time has gone by so quickly for me. Very sorry for going quiet again, I've been rapidly working away on my final uni project plus I did a bit more work on my chess film over December. All in all I've been very busy and have almost completely neglected my online presence, which I apologise for.

Just updating to let you all know that my dormancy is due to me actively working on two projects which I should hopefully have out by the end of this year.

Those are shots from the film, below are some photos of the puppets in full:

Attatched are some photos for my Uni project - quite a change in style, isn't it? Whilst still completely plasticine, these models are almost fully armatured and much larger than my usual claymation models - plus I've taken my first shot at set building too (the style is heavily inspired by the backgrounds of old UPA films). Won't give too much away on this project but I'm very excited about it - as much as I loved working in my old simpler style, it feels great to finally break out into something more complex. The reason I'll be posted it much later this year is because I'm going to be entering it into some film festivals, most of which won't accept films already accessable to the public. Won't to give away too much more as I'm still fairly early-on in the animation process, but I can't wait to see what you guys make of this new style!

In regards to the Chess Film, it's still a project that I am planning to work on, however due to the magninute of my Uni film I've had to put it completely on hold since January. The good news is that I'm confident that, along with my other film, I should have the part I'm working on completed by the end of this year. However, I've realised just how big of a film it may end up being, so at the moment things are a little up in the air in regards to it's full completion.

Originally the plan was to begin with the second act of the film to ease me into the project, then I'd animate the first and end with the third. Animation of the second act is coming close to completetion.

At the moment the plan is to complete the part I'm working on (the second act of the film), then release it as a sort of proof-of-concept/preview. After that I'll either release the first and third acts episodically or wait until I've got the full thing completed. It may take a very long time for me to finish this thing (if I ever do), but I'm desperate to show this idea I've spent so long on to the community, so I feel that this is the best thing to do. The second act will be between 7-8 mins total, so it's still just a little under the runtime of my past short films.

TLDR

I've got two projects on the way, and I'm aiming to have both out by the end of the year. Apologies again for those who have waited so long to see something new, but I'm very excited to finally show you all what I've been working on. I love this community and I'm a little bummed that I haven't been able to contribute more to it over the past year - I've just had to spend a lot of time practicing and studying to improve my work.

Thanks again for your patience, I'll aim to update again soon (if any of you are interested, please check out my instagram for small animated previews of my work plus behind-the scenes stuff. I'm aiming to be more active on there this year!)

Cheers!

Hey everyone, just updating to let you know that I've started work on my newest short film - it's going to be the longest one yet and it's going to take much longer than my previous animations. Pre-production i.e. model-making and gathering equipment took a lot longer than expected so I started later than I'd initially hoped, but I still managed to get a decent amount done. I've recently started Uni again (my final year), so I'm going to be juggling this with a lot of other things so production will slow down and speed up here-and-there. I've also got my final project/short film that I'll be producing for Uni, so I'll be posting updates around that once I start working on it.

Here are some screenshots from what I've animated so far:

It's a claymation about chess!

Keep an eye out on my Instagram as I'll be posting bits and pieces I go along (I've already posted some photos and short animated snippets on there, the link to it is in my bio).

I'm excited for what the next year has in store, and I'm looking forward to showcasing more!

Cheers all,

-Jack P.

Hi everyone, apologies for my dormancy over the past few months and leaving you in the dark, just wanted to drop a little update to let you all know that I'm still here and working on stuff🙂

I've got a new project on the way, and although it's another short film it's going to be the largest project I've worked on yet. There are a lot of characters, and a lot of general planning has gone and will go into it. I've spent the past year practicing and researching in the various technical areas of film, whilst also practicing and improving on my animation skills.

Over the past month I've been sculpting the finalised designs for my characters, and undergone some animation tests with them, and all seems to be going very well at the moment👍

Over the next month I will be finalising the model making and gathering all of the equipment I'll need to get stared, and I'm planning to begin animating/shooting later on this summer.

I don't like to give too much info away on my projects until I've begun shooting, but as this film will take a long time to complete, I'll try and update as much as I can whilst I'm working on it. I'l post some pictures of the characters/production once I've begun shooting the actual thing.

Anywho, whilst I'm still being a little cyptic/secretive about the film in question, I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here and working on things, I've just taken some time to research and plan before I undertake this project.

Thanks once again for everyone's kind words and support over the past two years with the different animations I've posted here, it really means a lot!

Cheers and look forward to sharing more soon,

-Jack P.

iu_394690_8149234.webpI'm taking part in Dial-Up Studio's Toy Story 2: Redialed collab (@WesMakowski), recently completed the first of two animated segments. Decided to post it to YouTube as it's only 7 seconds long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqUegSd5PJs

Thank you to * STAR * for providing the voice of Mrs Potato Head.

Looking forward the seeing the completed project!

Apologies I haven't updated as often as I said I would, been very involved with this project + uni work, so I completely forgot (truth be told I'm not great at giving updates). Anyway just letting those of you interested know that the film is very near completion, planning to wrap up animating this weekend, though I still have some editing work to do afterwards, and Premiere Pro 2020 has been a massive pain recently (probably going to look for a new software to work with after this is done). All in all there isn't too long to go before I put it up, most likely next week. Very happy with how it's turned out and can't wait to show it to the Newgrounds community! (And to those who have followed me since I posted Clash of Clay, thank you all very much for your patience).

Hi everyone, just a little update on my upcoming film for those interested. I started animation on Wednesday, and so far I have around two and-a-half minutes done, and I'm really happy with how it's going so far. I look forwarding to posting the final thing when it's done! At the moment I'm still a little too early on to give a rough estimate of when I'll have it completed, but I'll likely update on this when I'm further along in the process. I may post a short trailer like I did with Clash of the Clay once I've gotten some more animation done, though admittedly I do like to keep my projects mostly under-wraps until I have them completed.

I've been really enjoying working on this project so far, from the concept art, the storyboarding, the sculpting/model making to the animation itself, and I can't wait to show you all the finished film!

I'll try to keep posting the occasional update as I go along to keep those of you interested informed.

Cheers!

Hi all, just wanted to give those of you following a little update to let you know I'm still active. Apologies for not posting anything since November, I was planning to post some more Clash of the Clay & Klay Kong concept art when I came home from Uni for Christmas. Apologies as admittedly it's just kept slipping my mind, I'll post them as soon as I've posted this for anyone interested, just some little doodles and sketches.

I can assure you that I am working on another Deskfellows film, I've spent the past month developing ideas, characters, narrative, but right now I've very nearly completed the storyboard. I've also ordered a box full of of plasticine for all of the models, although I'll probably wind up ordering more in anyway! The film is currently titled A Grand Day for Fishing, although I might change the title down the line. I won't spoil too much, but it does feature the return of Clay Man and Kong from my first film Klay Kong.

I'll aim to begin sculpting the models and animating as soon as I move back to my accommodation as I should have all the props I need. At the moment I'm a bit backed up with Uni work, lockdown has made studying a little tricky for me (plus I've mainly been focusing on A Grand Day for Fishing) so I've got a bit of catching up to do, but since this is my first year it's all beginner's stuff, really not much of a hindrance. However I won't bore any of you with the details, since I don't want this to devolve into an "oh woe is me" sort of post!

Anywho, I just wanted to let any of you interested know that I am still very active, and I have got another film on the way for you, and animation should start within this month.

(Also I finally found I nice little name to settle on for now, "headstove" sounded a little grim for the type of things I'm currently making!)

Cheers guys, and hope you all had a nice Christmas & New Years.

-Jack P.
